Every journey starts in the map room. Even well established routes need to be carefully planned, as the weather patterns of the Desolation can shift quickly in certain regions.
The airships of the Cartographers Guild are kept and maintained in large docks in some of the larger cities of the world.
The older, more experienced cartographers stay behind, their knowledge too valuable to risk by them going on a journey themselves.
